Eagle-Eye Cherry is a Swedish musician.
His father, Don Cherry (Donald Eugene Cherry), was an American jazz musician, who was of African-American, and a small amount of English, descent. His mother, Moki Cherry (born Monika Marianne Karlsson), was a Swedish interdisciplinary artist and designer. She worked in textiles, fashion design, woodworks, painting, collage, ceramics, and set design. He is a half-brother of singer Neneh Cherry (through his mother) and a step-brother of singer Titiyo. His niece is R&B singer Mabel.
His father was said to have some Cherokee Native American ancestry. It is not clear if this ancestry has been verified/documented.
Eagle-Eye’s paternal grandfather was Ulysses Simpson Cherry (the son of James “Jim” Cherry and Rosie Belle Harris). Ulysses was born in Oklahoma. James’ mother’s maiden surname is Ross. Rosie was the daughter of Battice “Puxie” Harris and Emily Riddle.
Eagle-Eye’s paternal grandmother was named Daisy Lee Fulson (the daughter of a Texan man surnamed Fulson, and of Marie Tombs). Marie was the daughter of J. E. Tombs and Fannie Hooper, whose own biological father was English.
Eagle-Eye’s maternal grandfather was Oskar Verner Karlsson (the son of Carl/Karl Wilhelm Olofsson and Hilda Nilsson). Carl was the son of Olof Månsson and Emma Karlsdotter. Hilda was the daughter of Johannes Nilsson and Bothilda Nilsdotter.
Eagle-Eye’s maternal grandmother was Justina Mariana Antonsson (the daughter of Nils Gustaf Antonsson and Ida Övall). Nils was the son of Anton Andersson and Anna Magdalena Håll. Ida was the daughter of Johan Övall and Maria Boman.
